Hello Hui Chu Yong,

Thanks for the question.

As per your travel itinerary, you can purchase 2 separate passes that is the Swiss Travel Pass and Eurail Benelux Pass for your travel within Switzerland and Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. And for your travel from Basel to Cologne and Cologne to Amsterdam you can purchase point to point tickets. However you can opt to travel directly by City Night Line from Basel to Zurich to Amsterdam which you would receive pass holder fares with either of the passes.

The Swiss Travel Pass will give the following benefits:

Children below 16 years are free if accompanied by the at least one parent having a Swiss Pass. We issue a Swiss family card for children.

With a Swiss Travel Pass you can travel free within Switzerland on the STS (Swiss Travel System) network on trains, buses and boats. Also with a Swiss Pass you would get discounts on mountain excursions within Switzerland. These discounts can only be availed locally by showing your Swiss Pass to the ticketing office in Switzerland.

With a Swiss Travel Pass you can travel free on intercity trains within Switzerland

The Eurail Benelux will provide you with unlimited travel within Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg on all Domestic and regional trains.

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass.

In order to purchase the Swiss Travel Pass click “Here”.

In order to purchase the Eurail Benelux Pass click “Here”.

To book seat reservations, please visit our website.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on “Seat Reservations” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,

if i buy Eurail Pass for 3 country (Benelux + Germany + Switzerland) for 10 days within 2 months that will cover from 26 April to 5 May that cost Euro 468 per person ( we have 4 person that will travel together), is it cheaper than the recommendation you given ( Swiss pass + Benelux pass + point to point for Basel to cologne & Cologne to Brussel) ?

or there are other cheaper option?

thanks for your advice.

Hello Hui Chu Yong,

Thanks for the reply.

Switzerland features 2 main networks – the ‘ basic’ network and the ‘ Swiss Travel System’ network. The basic network includes all major railway connections and boat companies to major cities and tourism areas, plus different bonuses in Switzerland.

The Swiss Travel System network includes the basic railroads, urban transportation systems, postal buses and all major mountain railways/cable cars. The Eurail Pass covers only the basic network.

The Eurail Pass covers the ‘basic’ network

The Swiss Travel Pass covers the 'Swiss Travel System’ network.

Yes, you can also opt for the Eurail 3 country Select Pass, but the benefits are limited than the Swiss Travel Pass as given above. And you will need to purchase reservations for the journeys with the pass.

Hope this helps!!!

Hello Hui Chu Yong,

Thanks for your reply.

With a Germany – Switzerland 2 country Select Pass, you will receive a discount in Jungfraujoch which you will have to check locally at the train station.

Yes the Pass is suitable for your 5 days trip on the mentioned dates. For your travel from 26th April 2016 to 30th April 2016, you can purchase 5 days in 2 months pass.

If you take the train at 7 am train, one day in the pass means it will be effective till 11.59 p.m. that day itself.

Hope this helps!!!
