Travelling to Spain & Portugal

Hi,

We are planning for a trip to Spain & Portugal. In Spain, we intend to cover the following cities:-

Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Guadix, Granada, Cordoba, Seville, Salamanca, Madrid, Toledo, Segovia, Malaga. As for Portugal, will be just Lisbon and Fatima. Can you help to plan the train route which is less time consuming and also advise the type of passes that we should buy?

Hello Angela,

Thanks for your question.

As you are traveling extensively in Spain, I suggest you purchase a Renfe Spain Pass.

Renfe Spain Pass is a pass that allows non-residents of Spain to travel around the country.

Important: The Renfe Spain Pass alone does not allow traveling on a train. Renfe Spain Pass holders need to book reservation tickets for free.

The Renfe Spain Pass is valid for AVE, Long Distance (except night trains) and Medium Distance services. The pass is not valid on any international services.

Further, the Renfe Spain Pass allows you to complete your journey by Commuter train provided that it connects with the place of origin or destination of your booking.

Tickets can be purchased at station ticket offices, provided that the valid pass is presented at the time of purchase.

The Renfe Spain Pass is active for 6 months from the day of purchase and then valid for 1 month (30 days) as from the date on which it is first validated for a journey.

Your travel will be as follows –

- Barcelona to Valencia – Euromed Train

- Valencia to Alicante via Albacete – Regional Train and AVE Train

- Alicante via Guadix via Albacete and Alcázar de San Juan – Regional Train and AVE Train

- Guadix to Granada – Regional Train

- Granada to Cordoba via Antequera-Santa Ana – Regional Train and AVE Train

- Cordoba to Seville – Regional Train or AVE Train

- Seville to Madrid – AVE Train

- Madrid to Salamanca – Regional Train

- Salamanca to Avila – Regional Train

- Avila to Toledo via Madrid – Regional Train and AVE Train

- Toledo to Segovia via Madrid – Regional Train and AVE Train

- Segovia to Malaga via Madrid – Regional Train and AVE Train

The Renfe Spain Pass allows 12 journeys in total, request you to book accordingly.

Hope this helps!!!
