train travel with swiss travel pass

We are 04 adults thinking of buying Swiss travel pass with 4 consecutive days of validity. Our train travel plan is

Day1 (16.06.16)

Zurich to schaffhausen and back to zurich

Zurich to luzern

Day2 (17.06.16)

Luzern to Fluelen 5 hour cruise

Luzern to interlaken by golden pass line

Day3 (18.06.16)

Interlaken to jungfraujoch via grindelwald and back to interlaken via lauterbrunnen

Day4 (19.06.16)

Interlaken to brig

Brig to St. Moritz by glacier express

St. Mortiz to Tirano by bernina exp.

Which of the trains will need reservation? And which sector requires additional fare? If we make reservations right now, can we simply board the trains with travel pass on day of travel? Means will the pass work like a full fare ticket if holding reservation? And last, can multiple journeys be availed in one day with travel pass or only one journey per day of validity? Please give reply as we are going to plan the tour very shortly. Thanks in advance.

- Zurich to Lucerne - (Can be travelled with the Swiss Travel Pass, no seat reservation required).

- Lucerne to Fluelen – Boat ride can be travelled by Swiss Travel Pass.

- Interlaken to Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen return - (Can be travelled with the Swiss Travel Pass, no seat reservation required).

- Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen to Jungfraujoch and return - you will need to purchase ticket at the train station for the mountain train which you will receive discount with the Swiss Travel Pass.

Kindly note that once you make seat reservation the ticket will be delivered to you, which you need to take with you for your travel.

Yes, you can take multiple journeys in a day as it will be counted as per day of travel and not as per journey. Also note that the Pass day ends at 23:59 p.m.

To purchase the Swiss Travel Pass click “Here”.

Children below 16 years are free if accompanied by the at least one parent having a Swiss Pass. We issue a Swiss family card for children.

With a Swiss Travel Pass you can travel free within Switzerland on the STS (Swiss Travel System) network on trains, buses and boats. Also with a Swiss Pass you would get discounts on mountain excursions within Switzerland. These discounts can only be availed locally by showing your Swiss Pass to the ticketing office in Switzerland.

With a Swiss Travel Pass you can travel free on intercity trains within Switzerland.

In order to book seat reservations, please visit our website.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on “Seat Reservations” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,

Amar, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
