Tickets, passes options

Good day

I will be travelling to Europe in July. I will be spending a week in Germany, then take the (day)train to Italy. I will spend about 3.5 weeks in Italy, where I will be travelling between 6 cities and some travel in between, all using trains and busses. I'm not sure if I should get a rail pass and what my best options are? Please could you advise on what options are available to me?

Regards

Helena

Hello Helena,

Thanks for question.

Could you please help me with the destinations you would be traveling to in Germany and Italy. That would help me propose a suitable pass if needed or point to point.

Awaiting your reply!!!

Hi Anthony!

Thank you for your reply!

I'm not sure exaclty what tickets I will need in Germany as I will be staying with family and don't have a fixed plan. From Germany, I will use the train from Frankfurt to Venice. Then from Venice to Verona, to La Spezia, to Siena, to Assissi to Rome.

I hope that helps?

Hello Helena,

Thanks for your question.

For your travel, an Italy Pass would be most suitable. The

pass would give you extensive travel within Italy on all regional and national

train services.

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for

all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail

pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass.

Travel as follows:

- Frankfurt to MunichICE train.

- Munich to Venice via Verona – Eurocity and Frecciabianca

trains.

- Venice to Verona – Frecciabianca train.

- Verona to La Spezia via Milan – Frecciabianca and Other

trains.

- La Spezia to Sienna via Grosseto – Other trains.

- Sienna to Assisi via Florence – Other trains.

- Assisi to RomeIntercity train.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "Seat

Reservations“ & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with

the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior,

adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do

so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details

regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or

not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!

Anthony

Thank you so much for getting back to me! This is really helpful!

Just to be sure, the Italy pass will only be applicable to the travel in Italy? When I book my tickets from Frankfurt to Munich to Venice, the pass will not apply?

Also, which option should I pick for the pass? 8 days in one month?

Hello Helena,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, the Italy Pass will give you pass holder fares 3 for your travel from Munich to Verona. To validate your pass so that you get the discounted fares, you would have to go to the Eurail Aid Office at Munich station and validate the pass.

Hope this helps!!!
