Three Country Select Pass

I am planning to visit France, Switzerland and Italy in May,18. I am planning to take the three Country Pass.

1. Is it valid for off-peak only. What is the implication? Can my reservations in peak seasons get cancelled

2. Is there a way to reserve seats using the pass from Rail Europe site? Once reserved, is my travel for those reservations confirmed? Is there any chance of these getting cancelled in case of peak?

3.Will I need to pay additionally for these reservations, because when I search trains after selecting the pass type, the prices are still shown and I am asked to select the price?

My itenary is tentatively as such

19th May-Paris-Lucerne

20th May - Lucerne-Engelberge and return

21st May - Engelberg-Venice

23rd May - Venice-Rome

25th May - Rome- Pisa and Return

Hello Souvik,

Thanks for the question.

You can purchase Eurail Select Pass 3 countries with Switzerland, France, Italy as per your Itinerary.

To purchase the Pass click "Here".

1. As your travel date is May 2018, kindly tick on "My travel dates are between 03/10/2017 and 27/11/2018" which is Promotion Pass. If you do not wish to purchase the promotion pass you can untick it. Kindly click on Terms and Conditions which is under Book now to view the After Sales Policy and details about the Pass.

Your seat reservations will not get cancelled if you purchase now as well.

2. Yes you can purchase seat reservations on our website. Kindly follow the below procedure:

Kindly note that pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "I have a rail Pass" on the home page of our website under "Book Train tickets" & then select the name of the pass and feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on "Search". Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

The booking horizon for seat reservations for your sector is 3 months prior your train departure date hence you can book accordingly as the booking for your sector is not yet open on the website.

Once your seat reservations are confirmed it will not get cancelled due to off peak or peak season.

3. Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass. With a Pass you can travel on regional/intercity trains within a country.

As per your Itinerary, following are the sectors that require seat reservations and which are free seating with a Pass.

- Paris to Lucerne:

Paris to Basel - Compulsory seat reservations.

Basel to Lucerne - Seat reservation is not required.

- Lucerne to Engelberg and return - Seat reservation is not required.

- Engelberg to Venice:

Engelberg - Lucerne - Chiasso(Switzerland) - Seat reservation is not required.

Chiasso to Venice - Compulsory seat reservations.

- Venice to Rome - Compulsory seat reservations.

- Rome to Pisa and return - There are direct trains for this route which require compulsory seat reservations. There are trains with 1 connection at Florence. There are Regionale and Regionale Veloce trains for your route which don't require seat reservations. All other trains require seat reservations with a Pass. Hence you can check the same and book accordingly.

Hope this helps!!!

Kind Regards,

Leora, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
