Hello Vikas,

Thanks for the question.

It is best to purchase Eurail Italy - Switzerland Pass for your travel.

To purchase the Pass click "Here".

As Mt Titlis and Jungfraujoch have Cable car/Mountain train, you will avail discount on this route with a Pass.

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass. With a Pass you can travel on regional/intercity trains within a country.

In order to book seat reservations, please visit our website.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on “Seat Reservations” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,

Leora, Rail Europe Travel Expert.

Thank you where I am confused is:

a) for internal travel in countries such as Switzerland and Italy on Trams, Local Trains, Buses and Ferry's - can this be done using the rail europe pass?

b) Also, say we purchased 4 days in two months pass. It means we can only use pass on those 4 days. For the internal travel in cities Switzerland and Italy, we will only be able to use them on those 4 days or any days?

c) We are traveling as follows:

Zurich to Interlaken (Train)

Interlaken to Montreaux (Train)

Montreaux to Milan (Train)

Milan to Rome (Train)

Besides Inside Switzerland and Italy, we will be visiting as follows:

a) Mount Titlis

b) Mt Pilatus

c) Golden Pass - Chocolate Train

d) Jungfraoch Trip

Do we have any benefits with the Rail Europe there?

Also, in Italy we will be doing:

a) Day Trip to Venice from Milan

b) Day trip to Gardarland Theme Park from Milan

c) Day Trip to Amalfi Coast from Rome

d) Day Trip to Florence and Pisa from Rome

Do we have any benefits there on these day trips?

Kindly assist!

Hello Vikas,

Thanks for your reply.

With Eurail Italy-Switzerland Pass, you can only travel by trains. For additional benefits, you can check under “Benefits” under Eurail Italy-Switzerland Pass.

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass. With a Pass you can travel on regional/intercity trains within a country.

If you purchase 4 days within 2 months Pass, you can travel any 4 days of your choice within 2 months validity period in your Pass. A travel day is from 12:00 am to 23:59 pm during which you can take as many trips you wish.

As Mount Titlis, Mount Pilatus and Jungfraujoch are mountain train/cable car ride, you will avail discount with a Pass and ticket for the same will need to be purchased locally at the train station as it is not bookable on the website. As Golden Pass Line and Chocolate train are Scenic trains, seat reservations are mandatory with a Pass. Seat reservations for Golden Pass Line can be booked on the website by breaking the sector i.e. Lucerne – Interlaken, Interlaken – Zweisimmen, Zweisimmen – Montreux or vice versa. For Chocolate train, seat reservation needs to be purchased locally at the train station subject to availability itself.

The closest train station to Gardarland Theme Park is Brescia from where will need to travel by public transport.

The closest train station to Amalfi Coast is Salerno, from where you can travel by public transport.

Hope this helps!!!

Thanks Leora, apart from the travel days between cities...inside zurich or other cities - can we use tram, buses, ferries etc on any days (not only travel days) during the 1 month period or duration of our stay or do we have to buy a separate pass for the same?

Hello Vikas,

Thanks for the reply.

The Eurail pass is only valid for travel by train from one city to another. The pass is not valid on any other transport or to travel within a city.
