Swiss and German-austrian rail pass reservation help

If I have the rail pass then do I need to make a reservation for intercity trains (between Munich, düsseldorf, dortmund, Frankfurt) or just get on board and show the pass.

Also if I buy a Swiss pass separately and a german-austrian rail pass, what do I have to do if my train is from Zurich to düsseldorf. If reservations need to be made then using which site and is there a charge for it? For this journey which pass would be valid (swiss or german rail pass)

Hello MH M,

Thanks for the question.

With a Pass, Reservation is included for Intercity and domestic trains within the country mentioned in your Pass.

For your travel in Switzerland, Germany and Austria you can purchase Eurail Select Pass 3 country.

However if you wish to purchase Swiss Travel Pass separately and German – Austria Pass you will avail Passholder fare from Zurich to Dusseldorf. You will only have to purchase Seat Reservation.

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass.

You can purchase Seat Reservation on our website itself.

To purchase Eurail Select Pass 3 country click “Here”.

To purchase Swiss travel Pass click “Here”.

To purchase German – Austria Pass click “Here”.

In order to book seat reservations, please visit our website.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on “Seat Reservations” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,

Leora, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
