Spain Portugal

Hi - I am travelling with my wife and 13 year old daughter in May to Portugal and Spain. I need to travel in train from Lisbon to Porto, Barcelona to Seville and Malaga to Madrid. Should i buy pass or buy ticket? Also how can i reserve my seat - do i need to book thru euroraial or go to renfe.com? Should i use youth category for my daughter?

Hello Sandeep,

Thanks for the question.

It is best to purchase point to point ticket for your travel. You can book and travel as follows:

- Lisbon to Porto - Intercity train.

- Barcelona to Seville - AVE train.

- Malaga to Madrid - AVE train.

You will need to purchase Youth ticket for your 13 year old daughter.

As Lisbon to Porto has Open Ticket, seat reservation is not included in the ticket hence you will need to purchase seat reservations locally at the train station subject to availability as it is not bookable on the website.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab which is below Add to Cart to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website.

You would need to feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares. You need to select the fare which is preferable to you and then add it to Cart. Once added, you need to mention the names of the passengers to make the payment on the next page.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,
