Scandinavian Trip

Hi There!

I'm Imelda from Malaysia. Me and my friends ( 3 of us )would like to visit Norway, Sweeden, Finland and Estonia in mid December till the first week of January ( about 21 days). Here is our cities itinerary:

1. Oslo,Norway

2. Stockholm, Sweden

3. Kiruna, Sweden

4. Kittila, Finland

5. Helsinki, Finland

6. Tahlinn, Estonia

and back to Oslo.

From the cities list,

few questions:

1. Can you advice which choice of transport mode is the best for us? If possible we would like to travel using the train as much as we could.

2. If we purchase the Europass, can we enjoy the direct train from Oslo to Stockholm in first class?

3. If we travel from Stockholm to Kiruna using then night train, will it be considered as 2 days usage?

4. Let say if the place that we wanted to visit is not accessible by train, if we take the bus can we get some discount if we are the Europass holder?

thank you for your help!

best regards,

Hello Imelda,

Thanks for the question.

For your travel it is advised to purchase Eurail Scandinavia Pass.

To purchase the pass click “Here”.

1) You can travel by train to the mentioned route.

2) With a Eurail Scandinavia Pass, you can enjoy the direct train from Oslo to Stockholm in first class, provided which you purchase a first class pass.

3) For your travel from Stockholm to Kiruna, as per the 7 pm rule : If a direct overnight train starts after 7:00 p.m. and arrives after 4:00 a.m. on a validated Eurail Pass, the pass holder must enter the next day’s date on the pass, provided it falls within the validity of the pass.

If an overnight train starts before 7:00 p.m., or arrives before 4:00 a.m. on a validated Eurail Pass, the Pass holder has to fill in two days on the pass: the starting day’s date AND the arrival day’s date on the pass, provided it falls within the validity of the pass.

4) To know about discounts offered on the pass, kindly click on “Rail Pass benefits”.

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass.

In order to book seat reservations, please visit our website.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on “Seat Reservations” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,

Leora, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
