Rome-Geneva-Franckfrut-Amsterdam-Paris-London

I am planning an Europe+UK vacation with my family of (5 adults and 1 child) from Dec 1-14,2014. Planning to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Rome but our return flight would be from Paris to Kuala Lumpur. We would like to visit Italy (Rome), then Switzerland (Geneva), Germany (Frankfrut), Amsterdam (Netherlands), France (Paris) and UK (London). Planned 3 days 2 nights for each country.

Please suggest the best/family friendly way to travel for all the destinations we planned to visit.

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for your question.

You would have to break your journey on our website as follows :

- Rome to Geneva via Milan Frecciarossa train and Cisalpino (Italian International train)

- Geneva to Frankfurt via Basel – Eurocites and ICE trains.

- Frankfurt to Amsterdam – ICE train.

- Amsterdam to ParisThalys train.

- Paris to LondonEurostar train.

As you are travelling extensively in Europe, I suggest that you purchase a Eurail Global Pass.

If you wish to tour Paris , I suggest that you purchase a Paris Pass.

And if you wish to tour London , I suggest that you purchase a London Pass.

Request you to check the schedule and book tickets directly on our website.

Hope this helps!!!

Therefore, the "Eurail Global Pass" - is the most ideal pass for our travel.

Please advise more detail for this pass.

1. How much for the pass? Adult/Youth/Child/Family?

2. Is the payment for the pass a "once-off" payment for the whole trip (from Italy to England) or do we need to pay in every country of visit?

Your advise is much appreciated.

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for your question.

With a Eurail Global Pass you can avail of unlimited travel on the national rail networks of the 24 European countries covered by the pass.

With Eurail Global Pass you can travel free on the regional trains.

Reservations are mandatory on high-speed trains, night trains, scenic trains and border crossing trains.

With a Pass the seat reservations will be offered at discounted fares (Pass holder fares).

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "book a compulsory seat reservation when using your rail pass & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Passes must be validated within 6 months of issuing date by a railway official in one of the countries mentioned on the rail pass (station’s desk) who also fills in the passport number.

Passes must be validated prior to boarding 1st train (All parties must be present when validating a Saver pass).

As fares are dynamic and subject to change, I cannot give fare quotations.

You can also refer to our travel magazine Connexion for sample itineraries.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply and valuable advise.

Does the Eurail Global Pass covers travelling to the United Kingdom (eq. Brussels-London and London-Paris)?

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for your revert.

United Kingdom is not a part of this pass.

However with this pass you would get discounted fares (Pass holder fares) on Eurostar trains from Paris to London vice versa and Brussels to London vice versa.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "book a compulsory seat reservation when using your rail pass".

Hope this helps!!!

I had purchased the Eurorail Global Pass Saver (x2) for 6 adults and 2 child.

What do I do next?

1. Activation of the pass can only be done when we arrive in Europe. FYI-We will arrive in Rome on 1st Dec 2014. We planned to travel to Venice on 3rd Dec 2014. When should we activate the pass?

2. I understand a reservation is needed for our travel. Please advise accordingly for the schedule below:-

3 Dec (Rome - Venice)

4 Dec (Venice - Lucerne)

6 Dec (Lucerne - Frankfurt)

8 Dec (Frankfurt - Amsterdam)

10 Dec (Amsterdam - Luxembourg)

12 Dec (Luxembourg - Paris)

3. How do I book tickets and confirm travel for the destination above according to the dates specified? I was told that the Eurorail Global Pass covers all. Is there an additional charges involved?

4. I need confirmation on the schedules above because all reservations for the hotel has been confirmed. Please give clear and precise instruction so that we can stick to the schedule and location.

Your assistance is urgently requested.

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for your revert.

Passes must be validated within 6 months of issuing date by a railway official in one of the countries mentioned on the rail pass (station’s desk) who also fills in the passport number.

Passes must be validated prior to boarding 1st train (All parties must be present when validating a Saverpass).

The date of travel has to be entered in the correct way before boarding the first train, by the traveler, in the corresponding box of the calendar.

With a pass you can travel free on regional trains.

Reservations are mandatory on high-speed trains, night trains, scenic trains and border crossing trains.

With a Pass the seat reservations will be offered at discounted fares (Pass holder fares).

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "book a compulsory seat reservation when using your rail pass "

If an overnight train starts after 7:00 pm and arrives after 4:00 a.m. on a validated Eurail Select Pass, the Pass holder must enter the next day’s date on the pass, provided it falls within the validity of the pass.

If an overnight train starts before 7:00 pm on a validated Eurail Select Pass, the Pass holder has to fill in two days on the pass: the starting day’s date and the arrival day’s date on the pass, provided it falls within the validity of the pass.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website.

Hope this helps!!!
