Rail Pass or Single Tickets

Hello,

I am from India. We are a group of 4 and planning to visit Amsterdam, Brussles, Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Florence and Venice. Brussles can be a day tour from Amsterdam.

Do you recommend taking a pass or single tickets? If pass, which pass should we go for?

Regards,

Oindri

Hello Oindri,

Thanks for the question.

As per your Itinerary, you can purchase Eurail Select Pass 4 countries with Benelux, Spain, France, Italy for your travel.

To purchase the Pass click "Here".

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will receive pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass. With a Pass you can travel on regional/intercity trains within a country.

Kindly note that pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "I have a rail Pass" on the home page of our website under "Book Train tickets" & then select the name of the pass and feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on "Search". Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Hope this helps!!!

Kind Regards,

Leora, Rail Europe Travel Expert.

Hello Oindri,

Thanks for your reply.

Please note the below route as per your itinerary and which sector requires seat reservations and which are free seating with a Pass.

- Amsterdam to Brussels - Eurocities train - Free seating with a Pass.

There are Thalys trains on this route which requires compulsory seat reservations with a Pass.

- Brussels to Paris - Thalys train - Compulsory seat reservations.

- Paris to Barcelona - France-Spain High Speed train - Compulsory seat reservations.

- Barcelona to Rome - You will need to break and book as below:

Barcelona - Marseille - Rome - Compulsory seat reservations.

Please note, there are Thello night trains and seat reservation is not available on the website for this train. Hence you will need to check locally at the train station if seat reservation is available for the train which is subject to availability.

- Rome to Florence - Frecciarossa train - Compulsory seat reservations.

- Florence to Venice - Frecciarossa train - Compulsory seat reservations.

Please note, you do not have to purchase full fare ticket but seat reservation fares by clicking on "I have a rail Pass" and following the above procedure.

Hope this helps!!!

Kind Regards,
