Portugal travel

Hi all,

i am traveling with my partner along the Algarve towns (from Lisbon to Lagos,Salema, Albufeira and Faro) in September. the plan is to make 3/4 full day trips with return in the Lisbon in the evening.

Does it worth buying a railway pass ? What is the difference between first and second class trains?

Hello Gabriela,

Thanks for the question.

As per your Itinerary it is best to purchase Eurail Portugal Pass for your travel.

To purchase the Pass click "Here".

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass. With a Pass you can travel on regional/intercity trains within a country.

Kindly note, seat reservations for Portugal sector needs to be done locally at the train station subject to availability as it is not bookable on the website.

The major difference between 1st and 2nd class is the comfort zone. First class is more comfortable than second class. In 1st class, there is more space than in 2nd class, both in terms of legroom and storage space for your luggage. The seats are more comfortable, and compartments are usually less crowded than in 2nd class.

For details regarding the services included in each class, please click on the Fare.

Hope this helps!!!

Hello Gabriela,

Thanks for your reply.

Any person living in a non-European country can use the Portugal Pass. If you are residing in Europe for less than 6 months, you can purchase the Pass and if you residing in Europe for more than 6 months, you can purchase Interrail Pass for your travel.

Kindly note, seat reservation needs to be done locally at the train station itself.

Hope this helps!!!
