Pass for German and Switzerland

Hi, we (2 adult) will be going to Germany 7 days and Switzerland 6 days. I plan to buy German Pass and Swiss Pass, but not sure about the validity days.

21/10/16: arrive at Dusseldorf airport, continue to Cologne

21/10/16 - 23/10/16: city sightseeing in Cologne (not sure if need to use local public transport)

23/10/16: transfer to Nuremberg

24/10/16: transfer to Munich

25/10/16: transfer to Fussen to visit Neuschwanstein castle

26/10/16 - 27/10/16: city sightseeing in Munich (not sure if need to use local public transport)

27/10/16: transfer to Switzerland (Lucerne)

28/10/16: going to Mt Pilatus

29/10/16 - 30/10/16: city sightseeing in Lucerne (not sure if need to use local public transport)

30/10/16: transfer to Zurich

31/10/16: city sightseeing in Zurich (not sure if need to use local public transport)

01/11/16: Zurich airport

For German pass, do I need to buy 7 continuous days or 5 days within 1 mth? I ask for 5 days within 1 mth, because I going to 5 city (Cologne - Nuremberg - Munich - Fussen - Munich)?

Same for Swiss pass, do I need to buy 6 continuous days or 2 days within 1 mth as I going to 2 city Lucerne and Zurich only?

Thanks for your advice.

Hello Lochinganna,

Thanks for the question.

It is advised to purchase Eurail Select Pass 2 countries with Germany – Switzerland in it.

To purchase the Pass click “Here”.

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass.

In order to book seat reservations, please visit our website.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on “Seat Reservations” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,

Leora, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
