Hello Sandeep,

Thanks for the question.

As you are travelling many cities in Switzerland you can purchase the Swiss Travel Pass for your travel.

Swiss Pass Details –

Children below 16 years are free if accompanied by the at least one parent having a Swiss Pass. We issue a Swiss family card for children.

With a Swiss Travel Pass you can travel free within Switzerland on the STS (Swiss Travel System) network on trains, buses and boats. Also with a Swiss Pass you would get discounts on mountain excursions within Switzerland. These discounts can only be availed locally by showing your Swiss Pass to the ticketing office in Switzerland.

You will need seat reservation for travel on scenic train which costs extra. On mountain trains and cable cars you will receive upto 50% discount on purchase. Rest all trains, buses and boats within Switzerland you can travel free with the pass, however the travel is counted in the day of the pass.

To purchase the pass click "Here".

To purchase seat reservation for Scenic trains you can follow the below procedure.

In order to book seat reservations, please visit our website.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on “Seat Reservations” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Route for Jungfraujoch and Titlis :

Interlaken – Grindelwald/ Lauterbrunnen – Jungfraujoch.

Interlaken – Grindelwald/ Lauterbrunnen : Free with the Swiss Pass

Grindelwald/ Lauterbrunnen– Jungfraujoch : Mountain Train/Cable Car ride, has to be booked locally. You will get a discount with the Swiss Travel Pass.

Lucerne – Engelberg – Titlis

Engelberg to Mt Titlis – cable car ride. You will have to book this sector locally. With a Swiss Pass you will get discounts on mountain excursions.

Note that Interlaken to Lucerne is a scenic train and seat reservation would be required.

Thanks for the response. I have two questions:

1. Is buying online cheaper than buying in Europe over the counter?

2. IS Swiss Pass better or Eurail pass?

Pls advise.

Hello Sandeep,

Thanks for your reply.

As per your Itinerary, Swiss Travel Pass is advised.

With a Swiss Travel Pass you will avail passholder fares only on direct TGV Lyria train to and from Paris - Zurich, Lausanne, Bern and Interlaken for which you will need to purchase seat reservations with a Pass and 1 travel day will be taken from the Pass.

As there are no passholder fares to Geneva, you can travel from Geneva to Lausanne with your Swiss Travel Pass and purchase seat reservations from Lausanne to Paris with Swiss Travel Pass.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab which is below "Proceed to Shopping Cart" to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Please note, the fare details tab under seat reservations should state "Holders of a Pass covering Switzerland" to avail passholder fares to.

We cannot comment on the fares of the Passes purchased locally.

Hope this helps!!!

Kind Regards,

Amar, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
