My husband and I want to travel from Bordeaux, France to La Rochelle, France on Sept. 7th

Is it possible to travel from Bordeaux to La Rochelle, France without changing trains? We also want to travel from La Rochelle to either Angers or Tours, France on Sept. 9th, then to Paris on Sept. 11th. We also want to travel to Ashford, England on Sept. 16th. What is the best way to do this?

Hello Alexandra,

Thanks for your question.

You would have to travel as follows:

- Bordeaux to La Rochelle – TER / Corail Intercity train

- La Rochelle to Tours – TER train. Trains via Poiters are more frequent on this route.

- Tours to Paris TGV / Intercity train

- Paris to AshfordEurostar train

As you wish to travel extensively within France, a France Rail Pass would be more helpful.

With this pass you can travel free on the regional trains in France. Also, you would get passholder fares (discounted fares) on Eurostar train i.e. Paris to Ashford.

Reservations are mandatory to travel on high-speed trains, night trains, scenic trains and border crossing trains

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

With a Pass, the seat reservations will be offered at discounted fares (Pass holder fares).

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "book a compulsory seat reservation when using your rail pass & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website

Hope this helps.
