Most economical option for traveling from Paris, into several cities in Germany, then back to Paris?

Our train travel itinerary is Paris->Nuremberg ->bamberg->Munich ->Berchtesgaden -> Paris (and around the cities) over 14 days. Before adding Paris we planned to buy a Bavaria ticket. Is there now a more economical option? For most of the journey we will be 2 people, but from Munich - Berchtesgaden we will be 4 people. Thank you for your help!

Hello Miranda,

Thanks for your question.

As you are travelling extensively, I suggest that you purchase a Eurail France Germany Pass.

A saver pass is a discounted fare for 2- 5 adults travelling together at all times. Please click on the ‘friends/family’ tab for discounted fares.

Passes must be validated prior to boarding 1st train (All parties must be present when validating a Saver pass).

For the other two passenger you would have to purchase point to point tickets.

Example : Munich to Berchtesgaden – Eurocites. Trains via Freilassing are more frequent on this route.

Passes can be purchase 6 months in advance.

With a this Pass you can avail of unlimited travel on the national rail networks of France and Germany.

Reservations are mandatory on high-speed trains, night trains, scenic trains and border crossing trains.

With a Pass the seat reservations will be offered at discounted fares (Pass holder fares).

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "book a compulsory seat reservation when using your rail pass & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy

You can also refer to our travel magazine Connexion for sample itineraries of Europe.

Hope this helps!!!
