Italy-Switzerland-Paris-Nice

Hello,

I will be travelling to Europe in December for 19 days with my wife. This is my route that i will be travelling

Venice-Florence-Pisa-Rome-Tirano-(Tirano to chur in Bernina Express)-chur-(Chur to Zermatt in Glaciar Express)-Zermatt-Engelberg-Paris-Nice-Cannes-MonteCarlo(Monaco)-Venice.

Will it be a good option to purchase 1)Eurail Global Pass or 2)Purchase a Eurail pass for italy and paris and a separate Swiss pass for switzerland.

Also i would like to know is the train travel from Nice to Monte Carlo and Nice to Venice included in Eurail Global Pass, if not then what should be done?

Regards,

Omkar

Hello Omkar,

Thanks for the question.

As per your Itinerary, it is best to purchase Eurail Select Pass 3 countries with Switzerland, France, Italy selected.

To purchase the Pass, click "Here".

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass. With a Pass you can travel on regional/intercity trains within a country.

As Nice to Monaco is via TER train, it is free seating and seat reservation is not required with a Pass. You will need to purchase compulsory seat reservations for Nice to Venice route.

Kindly note that pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "I have a rail Pass" on the home page of our website under "Book Train tickets" & then select the name of the pass and feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on "Search". Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Hope this helps!!!

Kind Regards,

Hi Leora,

Thanks alot for your response. i would need the pass for 19 days so i checked the Eurail global pass of 22 days and Eurail pass for 3 countries. The eurail global pass seems to be cheaper compared to eurail pass for 3 countries. Is there any disadvantage if i choose Eurail Global Pass over Eurail pass for 3 countries.

Also could you help me as the Eurail Global/3 country pass will not allow me to use the bus service in switzerland , is there any way i can use the switzerland buses. Or any idea on whether the buses in switzerland are cheaper and is better to purchase the tickets directly.

Regards,

Hello Omkar,

Thanks for your reply.

Please note that with a Eurail Pass, public transport within a country is not included. With a Swiss Travel Pass you can travel on nus, train and boat within Switzerland.

As your travel is extensive, Eurail Select Pass 3 countries with Switzerland, France, Italy was advised. However, if you wish to purchase Eurail Global Pass for your travel, you can purchase. With a Eurail Global Pass, you can travel to 28 countries in Europe.

We cannot comment on the price for bus journey. You will need to check the same locally itself.

If you wish to travel extensively by local transport within Switzerland, you can check for a separate Swiss Travel Pass. For your travel in Italy and France you can check for Eurail France-Italy Pass.

You can compare the cost of each pass and book accordingly.

Hope this helps!!!

Kind Regards,
