Italy and Swiss Pass - travelling in April 2017 (HELP!)

Hi Team,

We (3 adults, 1 youth) will be travelling to Italy and Swiss from Malaysia this coming April. Need help on planning. :)

Italy - we will mostly travel by car and will only be needing a train ticket from Milan to Lausanne.

Swiss - combination of car and train. Our main base will be Torgon. Kindly refer itinerary below for our train plans.

1. Bern - Lucern - Interlaken - Bern OR, Bern - Lucern - Bern = please confirm if either of these options are possible

2. Tasch - Zermatt - Matterhorn = we are thinking of taking the cable car from Zermatt to Matterhorn

3. Swiss Alps tops = need help on planning the route eg: via Grindelwald?

Additional query : We are planning to purchase the Global Pass - Italy-Swiss. Does this pass covers all the above mentioned tickets required?

Thank you.

Hello Masyithah,

Thanks for the question.

For your travel from Milan to Lausanne, you can purchase point to point ticket. If you wish to purchase Swiss Travel Pass, you can purchase point to point ticket from Milan to the border station in Switzerland i.e. Brig. And from Brig to Lausanne you can travel with Swiss Travel Pass.

- Milan to Brig - Eurocities train.

For your travel in Switzerland, you can purchase Swiss Travel Pass.

To purchase Swiss Travel Pass click "Here".

1. Unfortunately we cannot suggest the route to follow. You can travel as per your convenience.

2. With a Swiss Travel Pass you will avail discount on Mountain trains which need to be checked locally at the train station as it is not bookable on the website.

3. As you wish to travel to Jungfraujoch you can follow the below route:

Interlaken – Grindelwald/ Lauterbrunnen – Jungfraujoch.

Interlaken – Grindelwald/ Lauterbrunnen : Free with the Swiss Pass

Grindelwald/ Lauterbrunnen– Jungfraujoch : Mountain Train/Cable Car ride, has to be booked locally. You will get a discount with the Swiss Travel Pass.

Swiss Travel Pass Details –

Children below 16 years are free if accompanied by at least one parent having a Swiss Pass. We issue a Swiss family card for children.

With a Swiss Travel Pass you can travel free within Switzerland on the STS (Swiss Travel System) network on trains, buses and boats. Also with a Swiss Pass you would get discounts on mountain excursions within Switzerland. These discounts can only be availed locally by showing your Swiss Pass to the ticketing office in Switzerland.

With a Swiss Travel Pass you can travel free on intercity trains within Switzerland. You will require compulsory seat reservations on Scenic trains.

A Global Pass is advised if you travel to many countries. As you will be traveling majorly in Switzerland, it is best to purchase Swiss Travel Pass and point to point ticket from Milan to Brig.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,
