Is the Benelux Pass useful for my itinerary?

Hi,

This is my itinerary -

13 Oct : Amsterdam Schiphol to Amsterdam CS

15 Oct : Amsterdam CS to Den Haag CS (Return)

16 Oct : Amsterdam CS to Bruxelles MIdi

18 Oct : Bruxelles Midi to Brugge (Return)

19 Oct : Bruxelles Midi to Ghent (Return)

20 Oct : Bruxelles Midi to Bruxelles Airport

I am intending to purchase the Benelux Pass, as I understand it can be used for both internal and regional train rides. I intend to use the Benelux Pass for trains within the city as well.

Please let me know if the Benelux Pass is useful for this itinerary or is it better to purchase point-to-point?

Thanks

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for your question.

Your travel will be as follows –

- Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam CS – Intercity Train

- Amsterdam CS to The Hague – Intercity Train

- The Hague CS to Brussels via Rotterdam – Intercity Train and Thalys Train

- Brussels to Bruges – Intercity Train

- Brussels to Ghent – Intercity Train

- Brussels to Brussels Airport – You will have to book locally.

The Eurail Benelux Pass is the ultimate pass to discover Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. All three countries are commonly known as Benelux and are offered as a single destination in your Eurail Pass.

With a Pass you can avail of unlimited travel on the national rail networks of the countries covered by your pass.

Passes can be purchased up to 6 months before your first day of travel. The pass must be validated within 6 months from the original date of issue.

Reservations are mandatory on high-speed trains, night trains, scenic trains and border crossing trains.

With a Pass the seat reservations will be offered at discounted fares (Pass holder fares).

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "Seat Reservations“ & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!

Hi Isha,

Thank you for your quick reply. It is much appreciated.

Can I confirm the following -

  • All Intercity Trains can be traveled for free using the Benelux Pass?
  • Can I use the Benelux Pass for trains within the town? Eg in Amsterdam?

Also, based on my travel itinerary, do you think it is worth it for me to purchase the Benelux Pass, or should I just purchase point-to-point tickets?

Thanks

Hi Isha,

Once again, thanks very much for such a quick reply. The information you provided has definitely helped me in my planning.

Sorry to be such a trouble, but I do have 1 last question. Can the Benelux Pass also be used on trams/buses within the cities?

Thanks
