How to use 2 country Eurail pass most effectively?

We have booked a 5 days in 2 months Austria- Germany Eurail pass. We plan to visit Munich, Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Freiburg im Breisgau and Frankfurt in that order and also wish to do extensive sightseeing like visiting Bodensee, Neuschwanstein, Romantic road etc. Following are our questions:

1. For which routes should we use our rail pass, for which routes should we buy point to point tickets?

2. Which routes will need seat reservation?

3. Please help us with an itenary that will use our eurail pass most effectively, and will make our trip most economical.

Dear Yogita,

Thank you for your question.

Despite having a pass reservations are mandatory with additional cost on high-speed trains, night trains, scenic trains and border crossing trains.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Reservation Included sector will require reservations.

Reservations not included sector are regional trains you can travel free with pass.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "Seat Reservation" and select your pass name from the list & then feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.
