Future bookings for TGV train

Good day

My family and I are on our way to France from South Africa for a 3 week period to come and see your lovely country. We are planning to board a MSC cruise ship at Marseille, but we have to travel by train from Paris to Marseille.

Would you advise us to book tickets in advance for this route, bearing in mind that a strike is currently ongoing? Or would you rather wait until we get there to book our tickets? We are planning to depart from Paris on the 28th of June 2018 in order to board our MSC cruise ship on the 29th.

Then, if a train route is cancelled due to the strike, will we have enough time to arrive in Marseille to board our ship via another train route?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hello Michael,

Thanks for the question.

Due to the ongoing strike in France, not all the trains are cancelled due to strike. If you purchase tickets on the website and the train is cancelled due to strike, you will need to visit the ticket counter and inquire if an alternate mode of transport will be provided. You will need to stamp the tickets as Unused at the train station ticket counter prior your train departure and send us the scan copy of the tickets as well as the alternate mode of transport used. We will assist you with the refund procedure.

Or you can visit the train station ticket counter and inquire about the trains that will be operational on your travel date and purchase tickets from the train station itself subject to availability.

Hope this helps!!!

Kind Regards,

Leora, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
