Hello Rakesh,

Thanks for the question.

Please note the below details of which trains are free seating with a Pass and which trains require compulsory seat reservations as per the countries.

TER train – Free seating with a Pass.

TGV and Intercites trains - Compulsory seat reservations.

Within Switzerland, you can travel on all the trains except scenic trains where seat reservation is mandatory. You will receive discount for travel on mountain trains and cable cars with your Pass.

As Glacier Express and Bernina Express are scenic trains in Switzerland, seat reservation is mandatory with a Pass.

Kindly note that pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "I have a rail Pass" on the home page of our website under "Book Train tickets" & then select the name of the pass and feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on "Search". Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Hope this helps!!!

Kind Regards,

Leora, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
