Euro Select Pass 2 or 3 countries

Hi,

I am travelling to Austria, Hungary and Croatia. Would a train ride from Budapest to Zagreb (on Eurocities) be considered as travelling in Hungary or Croatia?

If it's the former, then I would probably just get a Eurail Select Pass 2 countries (Austria and Hungary) since I don't intend to take trains in Croatia.

Thanks.

Regards,

Lee

Hello Sir/Madam,

Thanks for the question.

As the travel from Budapest to Zagreb is border crossing train and travelling from one country to another, it will be considered as travelling from Hungary to Croatia.

May I know the cities you will be travelling in Austria and Hungary so I can assist you better.

Awaiting your reply!!!

Best Regards,

Amar, Rail Europe Travel Expert.

Hi Amar,

Thanks for your quick reply. I'll be travelling to Innsbruck, Salzburg and the surrounding areas such as Seefeld, Zee Am See, Kitzsteinhorn in Austria. I understand that the train rides to these areas would all be covered under the rail pass?

As for Hungary, we are likely to stay in Budapest only.

Seemed to me like it would make more economical sense to buy a rail pass than point-to-point train tickets. What would your advice be?

Thanks!

Hello Sir/Madam,

Thanks for the reply.

As you are travelling only in Austria you can purchase the Eurail Austria Pass and purchase point to point ticket for your travel from Austria to Budapest and Budapest to Zagreb.

Eurail Austria pass will allow you to travel on all domestic and regional trains in Austria.

To purchase the Eurail Austria Pass click "Here".

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass.

In order to book seat reservations, please visit our website.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on “Seat Reservations” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

To purchase point to point ticket you can follow the below procedure:

- Budapest to Zagreb - Eurocities train.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website.

You would need to feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares. You need to select the fare which is preferable to you and then add it to Cart. Once added, you need to mention the names of the passengers to make the payment on the next page.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,

Amar, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
