Eurail Select Pass - reservation charges

Hi,

Two of us (age 53 & 56) believe Eurail Select Pass 3 countries(Benelux/France/Spain) should be the better option but will like to check how much we need to pay for those mandatory reservation assuming we pick the highest speed, least connection choice in the following itinerary:

20-Jan-18 Sat Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG) -> Paris Gare Du Nord

21-Jan-18 Sun Paris Gare Du Nord -> Den Haag Centraal (CS)

23-Jan-18 Tue Den Haag Centraal (CS) -> Nice Gare De Saint-Raphael-Valescure

25-Jan-18 Thur Nice Gare De Saint-Raphael-Valescure -> Barcelona Barcelona Sants (Estacio De Sants)

26-Jan-18 Fri Barcelona Sants (Estacio De Sants) -> Madrid Atocha (Madrid Estación de Atocha )

26-Jan-18 Fri Madrid Atocha (Madrid Estación de Atocha ) -> Barcelona Sants (Estacio De Sants)

28-Jan-18 Sun Barcelona Sants (Estacio De Sants) -> Barcelona El Prat Airport(BCN)

Please correct me if point to point is a better option.

Many years back when we use the youth pass TGV was not allowed, is it still the same now?

Does the pass cover Monaco?

Thanks & Regards,

MT

Hello Mong,

Thanks for the question.

As per your Itinerary, it is best to purchase Eurail Select Pass 3 countries with Benelux, Spain, France selected as the country in your Pass.

To purchase the Pass, click "Here".

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass. With a Pass you can travel on regional/intercity trains within a country.

Please note as Paris CDG to Paris train station is via RER, it is not included in the Pass hence you will need to check locally itself for this travel. The same applies for your travel from Barcelona train station to Barcelona Airport as it is not covered in the Pass.

Yes, you can travel to Monaco as well with the Pass. As TGV is a high speed train, seat reservations is mandatory with a Pass.

As fares are dynamic and subject to change, we unfortunately, cannot give fare quotations. All available fares are displayed on our website. It would be best if you check directly on our website.

Kindly note that pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "I have a rail Pass" on the home page of our website under "Book Train tickets" & then select the name of the pass and feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on "Search". Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Hope this helps!!!

Kind Regards,

Leora, Rail Europe Travel Expert.

Dear Leora,

Thank you for your advise. May I check is the discounted seat reservations fares with Eurail pass fixed?

Example I saw that on 26 Jan 2018, BARCELONA SANTS<->MADRID will cost 2 of us SGD36(to) + SGD36(Fro) to reserve today with Eurail 3 country pass. Does this SGD36x2 stays as we are not cetain whether we want to spend the days in Barcelona or visit Madrid.

Also I notice that I am not able to reserve Paris to Den Haag nor Den Haag to Nice. Is it risky to reserve partially Paris to Rotterdam & Rotterdam to Nice?

Thanks & Regards,

MT
