EuRail Global pass and need for Swiss travel Pass

I am travelling with my wife and 2 kids in July. I have already purchased Eurail Global pass. I would like to know whether I need to buy Swiss travel pass also. I will be staying at wengen and Zurich to explore Switzerland by train.

Thank you.

Hello Natarajan,

Thanks for the reply.

The Eurail Global Pass does allow you to travel in Switzerland. However it is only valid of trains form one city to another. It cannot be used on other transports or travel within a city.

Within Switzerland, you will need seat reservation for travel on scenic train which costs extra. On mountain trains and cable cars you will receive discount on purchase. Rest all trains within Switzerland you can travel free with the pass, however the travel is counted in the day of the pass.

If you are not travelling on other transports then Eurail Global Pass will be enough for the travel.

Kind Regards,

Amar, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
