Does the France-Switzerland rail pass cover all regional and intercity trains?

My itinerary is as follows:

1. Zurich - Esleideln (return day trip)

2. Zurich - Lausanne

3. Lausanne - Lourdes

4. Lourdes - Lisieux

5. Lisieux - Paris

I may also make side day trips from any of the major cities above.

Is a rail pass the best option? Which and for how many days? Would it cover all the regional and intercity trains for the side day trips?

Thank you.

Hello Renuka,

Thanks for the question.

As per your Itinerary, it is best to purchase Eurail France - Switzerland Pass for your travel.

To purchase the Pass click "Here".

You will need to purchase compulsory seat reservations on High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains in France. As you will have Switzerland in your Pass, you can travel on all the trains except scenic trains where you will need compulsory seat reservation and mountain train where you will avail discount which has to be checked locally at the train station. You will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass. With a Pass you can travel on regional/intercity trains within a country.

The validity in your Pass depends on your Itinerary hence you can choose accordingly.

In order to book seat reservations, please visit our website.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on “Seat Reservations” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,

Leora, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
