Can I take the Metro (NL, London, France & Brussels) and Intercity Train (in NL) with the Eurail Global Pass?

Two of us plan to travel to 1. Amsterdam, 2. Rotterdam, 3. Brussels, 4. Lyon, 5. Paris, 6. London, 7. Edinburgh in June 2018 and just wondering if the Eurail Global Pass is the right pass for us.

I tried to search for the time table and fare for departing from London to Edinburgh, the timetable and fare showed perfectly when the "I have a rail pass" box is unchecked, but when I ticked the "I have a rail pass" selection, the search returned error message "We did not find any train schedule for your search". Can you please advise if this means the train from London to Edinburgh is not covered in the Eurail Global Pass?

Also, is the National Rail in London covered by the Pass (pls see the attachment)? and what about the local trains in France, Brussels and NL? Are they covered?

Actually I am a little bit confused what local trains in each country are being covered by the Pass. Would you have information more specific to the cities that I am going to visit? Thanks a lot.

Regards,

Grace

Hello Grace,

Thanks for the question.

Eurail Global Pass is not valid for England, Scotland and Wales. Hence this pass cannot be used for travel in UK. You can check the valid countries with Eurail Global pass on the below link :

http://www.raileurope-world.com/pass/eurail-global-pass

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass.

In order to book seat reservations, please visit our website.

Kindly note that pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "I have a rail Pass" on the home page of our website under "Book Train tickets" & then select the name of the pass and feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on "Search". Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hence for your travel from London to Edinburgh you will need to purchase point to point tickets :

In order to book tickets, please visit our website.

You would need to feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares. You need to select the fare which is preferable to you and then add it to Cart. Once added, you need to mention the names of the passengers to make the payment on the next page.

Eurail Global Pass is valid for travel from one city to another by train only. It cannot be used for travel on other transports or to travel within a city. Hence it is not valid on metro, bus, boat, trams, subway etc.

May I know if there are any other cities you wish to travel in France, Belgium and Netherlands so I can assist you with the better option.

Awaiting your reply.

Best Regards,

Amar, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
