Best pass option for my trip

Dear Rail Europe Guru,

Group of 2 to travel with following itinerary, appreciate your advise for the best rail pass combination.

Mar 17 - 30 Italy : Rome > Napoli > Pompei > Sorrento > Rome > Firenze > Pisa > Venezia > Milan > Zermatt (Switzerland)

Mar 31 - Apr 6 Switzerland : Zermatt > Gornergrat > Luzern > Interlaken > Montreux > Lyon (France)

** Golden Pass ?

Apr 7 - 21 France : Lyon > Nice ...... (car ride) ... Marseille > Paris > Rotterdam

Apr 22 - 28 Netherland : Rotterdam > Den Haag > Amsterdam

Will the 3 countries select pass the best for this route (as I understand Netherland cannot be included since its not adjacent to the other 3 countries) ?

The select pass also include all those inter city rides within the same countries ?

Appreciate your kind advice in advance ! Have a good day !

Hello Jess Chan,

Thanks for the question.

You can purchase Eurail Select Pass 3 countries for your travel in Italy, Switzerland and France by mentioning these 3 countries in your pass.

In order to purchase Eurail Select Pass 3 countries click “Here”.

For your travel in Netherlands, you can purchase Point to Point tickets.

You can book and travel as follows :

- Rotterdam to Den Haag – Intercity train.

- Den Haag to Amsterdam - Intercity train.

With a France Rail Pass, you will receive Passholder fares to Rotterdam however passholder fares are only applicable for few trains which you will have to check.

With a Pass, you can travel on all Intercity and domestic trains within the countries mentioned in your Pass.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website.

You would need to feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares. You need to select the fare which is preferable to you and then add it to Cart. Once added, you need to mention the names of the passengers to make the payment on the next page.

Keep in mind that seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass.

In order to book seat reservations, please visit our website.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on “Seat Reservations” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,

Leora, Rail Europe Travel Expert.

One more question : If I am not having a Netherland Eurail pass but a France Eurail pass, can I reserve ticket from Paris to Rotterdam using my Eurail pass ? It counts the departure city / country, right ? Thanks.
