Austria and Switzerland Travel

Hello! Happy 2016!

I am travelling to Vienna on Feb 1 and will be travelling in Austria for a few days before meeting my husband on Feb 4. Below is our itinerary.

Me: Feb 1 Vienna/ Feb 2 Vienna ->Graz -> Vienna/ Feb 3 (NIGHT Train till Feb 4) Vienna -> Zurich -> St Gallen/ Feb 5 St Gallen -> Bellinzona -> Locarno -> Bellinzona/ Feb 7 Bellinzona -> St Moritz/ Feb 8 (Glacier Express) St Moritz -> Zermatt / Feb 10 Zermatt (Will go to Jungfraubahnen) -> Interlaken / Feb 11 Brienzersee & Thunersee/ Feb 12 Interlaken -> Luzern/ Feb 13 Luzern -> Zurich

My husband: Feb 4 Zurich -> St Gallen (while the remaining itinerary will be same as mine)

May I know if I should take the Swiss Flexi Passes together, plus buying individual tickets for my trips within Austria and to Austria to Swiss; or buying Austria-Switzerland Pass for myself and Swiss Flexi pass for my husband?

What is the discount for Glacier Express discount from Austria Switzerland pass?

Your kind advice is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Best,

Crystal

Hello Crystal,

Thanks for your question.

I would suggest that you purchase the Swiss Travel Pass.

The Swiss Travel Pass would give you the following benefits:

Children below 16 years are free if accompanied by the at least one parent having a Swiss Pass. We issue a Swiss family card for children.

With a Swiss Travel Pass you can travel free within Switzerland on the STS (Swiss Travel System) network on trains, buses and boats. Also with a Swiss Pass you would get discounts on mountain excursions within Switzerland. These discounts can only be availed locally by showing your Swiss Pass to the ticketing office in Switzerland.

With a Swiss Travel Pass you can travel free on intercity trains within Switzerland.

To purchase the Swiss Travel Pass click “Here”.

In order to book seat reservations, please visit our website.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on “Seat Reservations” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,

Anthony, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
