Austria and hungary

Hi. We are group of 4 adults 4 children. We are planning a trip to Austria and Hungary. Should we take 10 days 2 country pass or daily tickets to travel in both the countries and from Vienna to Budapest. Further when we hold a 2 country pass, and on the day of travel from vienna to Budapest, are we required to make a reservation and book a seat. If yes then how. Will it be chargeable and why as I have taken 2 country pass.

Also like Swiss pass will this pass be allowed on bus or sbahn.

Hello Gams,

Thanks for the question.

May we know if you will be travelling any other cities than Vienna to Budapest for the travel and also provide us the date of your travel for the route.

Passes cover only the ticket cost, seat reservations are required for High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains which cost extra.

Eurail passes are only for travelling on trains form one city to another. It cannot be used for other transport like bus, S Bahn etc or for travel within a city.

Best Regards,

Amar, Rail Europe Travel Expert.
