Hello June,

Thanks for your question.

As you are traveling extensively within Italy, I would suggest that you buy an Italy Rail Pass.

The Italy Rail Pass offers you unlimited travel on the national rail networks of Italy.

Passes can be purchased up to 6 months before your first day of travel. The pass must be validated within 6 months from the original date of issue.

All cross-border trains, night trains, scenic trains and high speed trains will require reservations. However with a Pass the seat reservations will be offered at discounted fares (Pass holder fares).

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "book a compulsory seat reservation when using your rail pass & then feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

As fares are dynamic and subject to change, I unfortunately cannot give fare quotations. I request you to check directly on our website.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website.

Hope this helps!!!

Hello Emily,

Thanks for your question.

Kindly note that once you book your pass on our website, the pass would be delivered to your shipping address provided by you while booking within 8 business days.

If you are holding a pass that covers Italy, then you would be getting passholder fares for your travel from Rome to Palermo.

In order to book pass, please visit our website.

Hope this helps!!!

Hi,

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. I am still not quite sure about how to use Rail Pass and here are questions that I would like to know and need to help with:

  • Could use Rail Pass for Eurostar, Italian trains: Frecciarossa, Italian trains: Italo,Trenitalia, InterCityNotte, Intercity, Ferrovie del Sud Est e Servizi Automobilistici, OTHER TRAINS(listed under search results)?
  • Which one needs to reserve a seat to get on it and can you get on without the seat reservation?
  • Below are our plans:
10/6 Milan - Rome (09:34 MILANO P GARIBAL 12:53ROMATIBURTINA, by .ITALO)

Or (10:00 MILANOCENTRALE 12:55 ROMA TERMINI by FRECCIAROSSA)

10/6 Romeà - Palermo (21:31 ROMATERMINI 10:02 PALERMO CENTRALE by INTERCITYNOTTE)

10/8 Palermo - Agrigento(07:49 PALERMO CENTRALE 09:52

AGRIGENTO CENTRAL by OTHER TRAINS)

10/9 Siracusa - Catania (13:00 SIRACUSA 14:09CATANIA CENTRALE, by INTERCITY)

10/10 Catania à Taormina (08:43 CATANIA CENTRALE 09:20TAORMINA- GIARDINI, by INTERCITY)

10/12 Lecc - Brindisi (12:13 LECCE 12:34 BRINDIS, by FRECCIARGENTO)

10/13 Brindisi - Taranto(18:47 BRINDISI 19:45 TARANTO by INTERCITYNOTTE)

Do we need to reserve a seat on the train listed above in our plans?

  • Can’t find a train schedule for Taormina to Reggio di Calabria, Reggio to LECC and Taranto to Alberobello from the search results. Is there any train going between these locations

Thank you very much for your help and appreciate your time.

Best regards,

Emily

Hello Emily,

Thanks for your reply.

The Italy Rail Pass offers you unlimited travel on the national rail networks of Italy. With your Pass you can travel free on the regional and intercity trains.

The pass must be validated within 6 months from the original date of issue. To begin using your pass, before boarding your first train, take your passport and go to a ticket office in a train station, show your passport and let a railroad official enter the first and last day of the validity period on your rail pass. The railroad official will also stamp your pass. All parties must be present when validating a Eurail Select Pass Saver

You would not be able to use your rail pass for travel on Eurostar. All cross-border trains, night trains, scenic trains and high speed trains will require reservations.

Trains like Italo, Frecciarossa, Frecciabianca etc. are high speed trains and would require reservations With a Pass the seat reservations will be offered at discounted fares (Pass holder fares).

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "book a compulsory seat reservation when using your rail pass" & then feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”.

In order to book a pass, please visit our website.

Hope this helps!!!
