Hi Leora

I want to know if they are still running night trains in France in late August, September.

If they are I might adjust my travel so I can use one. I don't have sepcific destinations in mind at this point.

Cheers Harry

Hello Harry,

Thanks for your reply.

Usually there are night trains in August and September. The booking horizon for your sector is 3 months prior your train departure date hence you can book accordingly. Request you to check once the booking opens on the website.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website.

You would need to feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares. You need to select the fare which is preferable to you and then add it to Cart. Once added, you need to mention the names of the passengers to make the payment on the next page.

Hope this helps!!!

Best Regards,

Not really Leora.

I had got the impression from news articles that they were no longer running night trains.

What cities do the trains run between?

I have successfully booked tickets on your site but have not been able to see anything that looks like a night train on any departure and arrival search.

Hi Leora

I'm going to try this one more time:

1. Does French rail stil run overnight sleeper train?

2. If yes - what towns do they run between?

I can find no information on web sites about the specific of when and where they run.

I might plan travel around the presence of N OVERNIGHT TRAIN.

So - you don't know anything that you cannot learn by using the booking system.

That's a bit sad.

Can you ask SNCF?

Hi Everyone

Got an answer via email:

Greetings from Rail Europe!!

With reference to your email, we would like to inform you that there are night trains within France. Routes for the trains are as below :

Paris - Nice

Paris - Toulouse

Paris - Bourg St Maurice

Paris - Briançon

"Couchettes” on the overnight trains are equivalent to 2nd class and “Sleepers” are equivalent to 1st class. The services also differ on Couchettes and on sleepers. The exact services can be checked by clicking on “fare details” tab.

Also may we bring to your notice that Couchettes need not necessarily be seats. Couchettes even include some compartments with berths (beds). Couchettes include compartments like T6 (with 6 berths), T4 (with 4 berths) T3 (with 3 berths). These details can again be checked by clicking “fare details” tab under each fare.

In order to book tickets, you would need to feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children) under FIND TRAIN TICKETS and then click on "Search Tickets". Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Regards,

Rail Europe.
