Advice on itinerary and types of pass to purchase

Hi there! We are a family of 4 adults who will be traveling to Spain from sep 3-18. We will arrive in Madrid on 3rd and these are the places we would like to visit :

Madrid sep 3-4 Barcelona 5- 7 ,Córdoba,Seville,Granada,Ronda ( if we can) Lisbon and Porto.

My questions are:

1. Shd I travel from Barcelona to Granada and Seville and then to Madrid and Portugal? Or shd I return to Madrid to go to Seville and Granada and then to Madrid and Portugal? I am confused as someone says it is better to go back to Madrid as Barcelona is too long a way to go from there to Granada ? Pls advise me on the best or suitable routes with costs and timings considerations taken?

2. Which pass is best for my family? Renefe Spain pass or Eurail Spain pass?

3. Pls advise me the trains to take for each place and how long is each ride?

4. Is it better to fly to Lisbon or take the train?

I am open to any suggestions or any changes. Would greatly your help on this trip.

Thank you

Dear Felicia,

Thank you for your question.

The Eurail Portugal-Spain Pass is the most comprehensive pass to visit Spain and Portugal.

Yes you will have to return back to Madrid to catch a direct train to Lisbon.

Seat reservations would be mandatory for all High-Speed, Night, Scenic and Border Crossing trains. But, you will avail pass holder/discounted fares for these journeys with the pass.

This pass can be booked 11 months in advance.

Reservation can be done 2 months in advance.

In order to book tickets, please visit our website.

The pass seats can be reserved by clicking on "Seat Reservation” & feed in the Departure city and the Arrival city along with the travel date and preferred time & the number of passengers (Senior, adults, youth and children), and then click on “search tickets”. Once you do so, you would find the schedules along with the fares.

Please click on the “Fare Details” tab to view details regarding the type of fare, type of seat, whether a reservation is included or not and the After Sales Policy.

Hope this helps!!!
